  • What issues are addressed?:
  • Homelessness, Domestic and Family Violence, Refugees, Youth at Risk and Older women at risk of homelessness.
  • Project Description:
  • We turn empty rentals into HOME, ensuring people starting life over after trauma and tragedy are able to furnish their home with the large, expensive items that are hard to afford, move and organise when you first secure accommodation. High quality preloved items are sourced and put into packages to be delivered to recipients. Requests are made by caseworkers and advocates so no extra assesment is required, making us FAST! When you can sleep well, eat well and present well, your ability to achieve your goals are higher and the risk of homelessness much less. Typical items are Beds, Fridge, Washer, Table & Chairs, drawers, sofa, TV and microwave.
  • Alleviating suffering / disadvantage?:
  • Affording, finding and moving big expensive items when starting your life again is near impossible. Women and girls need to feel safe and comfortable in their home to enable them to rebuild the life they wish for. We simply assist at a particular point in their recovery to ensure they have what they need without incurring debt. By delivering gifts shared by kind people in their community who believe they deserve lovely things, we aim to boost their self-esteem and restore some dignity.
  • How is success evaluated / measured?:
  • Ongoing measures in place and being developed to track the number of women and girls receiving home packages, and their qualitative feedback on the impact of the service on their situation and self esteem at the time.
